Who Are We?

Christophe About Us
Christophe & Melissa Parenty

We have been married for over 35 years, we have 7 children and a growing circle of grand children. We have been involved in education in both NSW & QLD, studied for several years at Tahlee Bible College on the NSW Central Coast and spent 8 years in mission, church planting on the South West Coast of France, working with the wonderful local French Church, Pioneers Mission Group and Christian Surfers.

We understand the importance of getting away with God, individually and in Christian community. Our goal for Kanigan Mountain Retreat is that people are drawn closer to God and inspired to live in His Kingdom, as they come to refresh, renew and reset their hearts minds and souls during the time they spend here.

SOME INSIGHTS

Our Mission & Vision

Why Retreat?

A retreat is a special time and place set aside to be with, hear from and grow in God. You might be on a personal escape, coming as a couple or as part of a group of people learning and sharing together. Our belief is that as you intentionally set aside time to be with Him, He will bring the new and deeper you need.

Refresh, Renew, Reset

Over the years we have been part of many retreats. We have attended marriage enrichment weekends, church house parties, youth camps, Mission conferences, Leadership Planning weekends etc. These times allow us to:

Refresh…. the Oxford Dictionary defines refresh as “to give new strength or energy to; to reinvigorate”. In areas of passion and calling where we find ourselves feeling lethargic, uninspired or worn out, times of retreat allow us to gain fresh zeal and energy “for the race set before us” (Hebrews 12:1).

Renew. Setting aside time to bask in beauty can inspire us to re-establish connection with parts of ourselves, our partners and others, that we may have lost sight of. A time away can help us renew intimacy and connection with and through God in new and deeper ways.

Reset. Like a paint pallet where the colours have become mixed together and messy, life also can become a blur, mixed up, with loss of clarity and direction. Intentionally setting time aside allows for resetting. Maybe time to reset plans for the future, a new perspective and vision, even reprioritising and reestablishing new habits, relationships or goals. God desires to guide our paths and time spent committing our ways to Him helps us reset our compass to follow Him more closely.
